How many times have you thought to yourself “I have to run to the store, I’m out of mayonnaise!” Chances are, you probably had the ingredients in your fridge and cabinet to make it at home. I cannot tell you how many times I have gone to the store for mayonnaise with the ingredients for it going to waste in my fridge.

Not only is making mayonnaise at home incredibly easy, but I think that it tastes better! I am not a big mayo fan, but there are so many different ways to experiment with it; for instance, spicy mayo, chipotle mayo, garlic mayo, tomato basil mayo, just to name a few….

Onto the recipe!

1 cup extra virgin olive oil (or whatever you have in the house)

1 egg (I use free range organic)

Juice of one lemon (acts as a preservative)

Two sprinkles red Tabasco hot sauce

In a food processor, combine the raw egg, Tabasco, and lemon juice. While the food processor is mixing, gradully add in the olive oil until well combined. Recipe yields around one cup of mayo.
